GHK-Cu

# GHK-Cu

A copper complex, read one experiment at a time

I use this GHK-Cu sheet to separate experiments on cells, animal tissue and human skin. GHK contains three linked amino acids, the small units that make up proteins; GHK-Cu is the form bound to copper. The copper matters to its chemistry. A finding about isolated cells does not describe what a research product would do in a person.

## GHK-Cu

[See GHK-Cu at Oath Research ↗](https://oathresearch.com/product/ghk-cu/?utm_source=peptidelabs&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ghk-cu&utm_content=feature-listing)

For GHK-Cu research supply, I recommend [Oath Research](https://oathresearch.com/product/ghk-cu/?utm_source=peptidelabs&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ghk-cu&utm_content=supplier-reason-1) for its batch certificates and stated policy to refund or replace material outside specifications. This is research-use material; orders are placed on the seller’s site.

**GRANT** A new customer’s first order is 20% off.

**GRANT15** 15% off any order, available to everyone.

Both codes are current. This site receives no payment from orders using them.

## The experiments in view

Cells · 1988

### Collagen in a dish

Researchers exposed fibroblasts, cells that make the supporting material around tissues, to the copper complex. They measured production of collagen, a structural protein, rather than the appearance of anyone’s skin.

The [fibroblast experiment](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3169264/) reported higher collagen synthesis without a corresponding change in cell number. That separates a change in cell activity from simply having more cells in the dish.

The experiment does not establish a visible cosmetic result, a medical outcome or human safety. The paper’s cell setting remains part of the finding.

Human skin tissue · 2011

### What crossed isolated skin

This was an experiment on separated human skin layers held in laboratory diffusion equipment. Researchers followed copper moving through or remaining in the tissue.

The [skin-layer investigation](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20721598/) detected copper passage and retention. Its useful detail is the substance measured: copper, rather than a direct measurement of intact GHK-Cu reaching a target.

An isolated skin sample is not a living participant. Tissue passage cannot stand in for evidence of a benefit or describe another route of administration.

Rats · 72 animals · 2015

### A result that did not persist

Rats undergoing reconstruction of a knee ligament were assigned to saline or GHK-Cu groups. Measurements included knee looseness, tissue findings and mechanical strength.

The [rat ligament study](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25731775/) reported less knee looseness at the earlier assessment. At the later assessment there was no clear difference; the other mechanical and tissue measures did not establish a consistent advantage.

The timing changes the interpretation. A temporary difference in operated rat knees cannot establish a durable human outcome.

People · 13 completed · 2006

### Objective measures and satisfaction

Participants recovering from laser resurfacing were assigned skin-care regimens with or without GHK-Cu. Computer analysis and blinded evaluators assessed redness and skin appearance; participants also reported satisfaction.

In the [small post-laser comparison](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16847171/), objective assessments showed no clear difference in redness resolution, wrinkles or overall skin quality. Satisfaction was higher in the GHK-Cu group.

Satisfaction and a measured skin change answer different questions. This small, specific setting cannot settle broader claims about GHK-Cu.

## Keep the preparation attached

I would not combine these four experiments into a single verdict. A dish, an isolated skin sample, an operated rat knee and recently resurfaced skin differ in more than scale. The copper complex also needs to stay distinct from free GHK and modified copper peptides. A familiar three-letter name can hide a different experimental material.

## From personal accounts: anecdotal, not clinical evidence

Accounts of topical redness, itching and dryness appear alongside favorable cosmetic stories. They are anecdotal, not clinical evidence. Without a comparison group or a clear description of the other ingredients, they cannot identify which ingredient explains a change.

## Safety questions still open

FDA’s [compounding safety page](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/certain-bulk-drug-substances-use-compounding-may-present-significant-safety-risks), current as of April 22, 2026, lists injectable GHK-Cu among substances nominated but withdrawn. The withdrawal belongs to the nomination; it is not clearance. FDA describes limited human safety information and a concern that clumping or peptide-related impurities could provoke an immune reaction. This concern is specific to injectable preparations and cannot be replaced by a cream’s history.

## From the paper to the supplier

For the supplier side of this GHK-Cu sheet, my recommendation is [Oath Research](https://oathresearch.com/product/ghk-cu/?utm_source=peptidelabs&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ghk-cu&utm_content=closing-reason-1). Its batch documentation answers questions about supplied material; the experiments above remain the place to examine the science.
