An Achilles tendon model
Researchers studied rats after an Achilles tendon had been cut. They compared BPC-157 with saline, measuring tissue structure, tendon mechanics and a movement-related index.
The rat tendon experiment reported differences in failure load and tissue measurements favoring the BPC-157 group. Failure load means the force a tendon withstands before breaking.
A deliberately cut rat tendon is a specific model, not a sample of everyday human injuries. The findings do not establish a human recovery result.

Blood-vessel signals
The investigators combined experiments on vessel-lining cells, a chick membrane and rat hind-limb blood supply. They examined vessel formation and signals involving a receptor called VEGFR2.
The vessel-signaling paper reported changes in those experimental measures. A receptor is a protein that receives a signal; observing its activity helps frame a mechanism question.
These connected experiments remain preclinical, meaning before evidence from clinical treatment trials. They do not establish that a person gains a useful outcome.

The uncertain human comparison
FDA summarizes a randomized, double-blind comparison in ulcerative colitis from a meeting abstract. Randomized means assigned by chance; double-blind means participants and assessors were kept unaware of the assignment.
In FDA’s account of the comparison, the estimated difference in disease activity had a confidence interval crossing zero. That range leaves no clear difference between groups.
A meeting abstract gives less detail than a complete report. FDA considered the information inadequate to establish safety or effectiveness; the result is not a clean positive or a definitive negative.

Two readings of animal safety
Animal testing examined short exposures, repeated exposures and several laboratory safety measures. The paper’s authors described the overall findings as reassuring.
The animal toxicology report needs to be read with FDA’s later assessment. FDA flagged clotting-related and liver-associated signals in parts of the animal record.
Neither assessment supplies a human event rate. Differences in species, route and the tests performed make a broad claim of safety premature.
